Why do my voicemails show up late

Two days later, suddenly three or four new voicemails will pop up from the past couple of days. The time stamp on the messages is correct-- it will show that the caller left the vmail a day or two before. Also, in what has to be a related problem, some of the voicemails appear to be corrupted and cannot be played.
