Radios have been and always will be devices for meeting strangers. Btw, in my experience, 87.8 its usually the default frequency. There's a server that I used to play on, "DayZ Village" that disallows the use of VOIPs, so you have to use radios. You can play less time on DayZ because you can log out with your loot and cant lose it whilst logged off. Rust is just a huge commitment, you have to log on pretty much everyday so you don't lose your base. Find a community server with factions, join their discord, easy way to get into a group without having to have a bunch of friends already playing the game.
