Here is a short narrative of the events leading up to the malfunction. The slide locked back as if the magazine was empty. Which it was. She noticed that there was a live round in the chamber. She dropped the magazine and then the slide went forward. She placed the gun on the bench and noticed the slide lock on the bench.

Here's the 7 round Kimber spring vs. the 6 round Wolff spring. Note that the Kimber spring has one extra coil. The Wolff feels a little stiffer with the mag assembled. All 7 rounds fit in fine and a 8th round would not go.
