Haven't stayed there in a few years, but know that everything at Ft. DeSoto is well maintained. April is a great time of year but very busy touristy time of year, the weather is usually near perfect. Only a short 30 to 45-minute drive from Tampa and just less than 2 hours from Orlando. Fort DeSoto is the perfect weekend get-away. Located just south of St. Petersburg, Fort DeSoto campground and park are just off of Interstate 275.
